The Irish comedian David O'Doherty has won the If.comedy Award, for his show Let's Comedy The 33-year-old Irishman collected his award worth £8,000 – from Clive James and 2007 winner Brendon Burns . In a packed venue jam house in Edinburgh on Saturday night.
David , who comes from Dublin, has been performing for 10 years and is a former winner of Channel 4's talent-spotting competition So You Think You're Funny?
The best newcomer prize went to Sarah Millican, for her show about divorce and her ex husband she thanked everybody except her ex.
The biggest cheer of the night was the panel prize and the spirit of the fringe award. Which this year has gone to all the performers at the years fringe in the form of alcohol at various bars. I’ll drink to that.
